Microfiber cloth or foam pads

I've been trying different products but when I polish with a microfiber cloth it leaves smear type marks but foam pads don't buff out wax?

Whats everyone using

try doing it the opposite way to you are now, the foam pads to apply and microfibre to buff off

I've tried different variations but the microfiber always leaves smear marks after, only reason I can think of is that it's not the cleanest as its had some use ????
