middle section exhaust pipe.

  CLIO 172 CUP....
well at the moment iv only got a powerflow back box on my cup as my mate was saling it for £20 and it was like new so i had it off him. now a week or so on my middle section of the standed exhaust is now blowing so it need replacing so i whent to long life as thay are around the corner from me and ask them wound thay be able to fit me a performance middle section to match the powerflow back box so then i would have a full cat back exhaust system. he said he can remove my old middle section and replace it with a straight through middle section so im guessing he would be removing the middle box...is this right.

also will a straight through middle section be o.k with the powerflow back box..

please guy i need some info on this a.s.a.p as if the middle section would be any good as i need to get this dont tomorrow..

thanks..

yeah straight through pipe...also my car has just passed it m.o.t so im not worry about m.o.t failure at the moment.

just wondering if a straight through pipe is any good. like i mean performance wish as i have a powerflow backbox cause you cant buy a powerflow middle section by it self....

will still be keeping the cat...just i need to no if the straight through would be o.k.

You have to change the pipes back each time you have an MOT if I remember correctly. They're good though, nice sound my friend had one on his GSI

yeah i dont mine that tho, as just as it better than the standed one.

any one got one fitted to ther 172. just now im thinking is the petrol miles gonna change at all

You don't have to change the pipes for the mot if you are keeping the cat.

Performance gains.. None, just volume lol

Yeah... theres a lot of b*ll*cks in here.

You'll get more noise, from a straight through centre section, but no impact on performance. You won't need to change if for the MOT as it doesn't affect emissions.
Only trouble you might have, is the MOT testers discretion, as to how loud the car is.

emm o.k... whet is the differnt between a straight throught middle section pipe from long life. and a powerflow middle section pipe..

i fort middle section pipes are all the same...or am i best going to a powerflow branch and get the right middle section to match the powerflow backbox or will thay just make me a straight throught pipe as well..

long life is £100 for middle section..and thats straight throught.. is this price about right.

bascially your exhaust will be in 3 parts if you look underneath, your cat - middle section - back box, these are 3 different sections and can be replaced individually.

all cars must have a cat unless you know a dodgy mot'er who will let it go, but it is possible to buy whats called a de cat, which is just a pipe rather than the cat, hence de cat, this will make it a sh*t load louder

the middle section usually has a silencer on it, which will look like a bigger piece of tubing around the pipe, some middle sections you can buy dont have this extra silencer and are therefore known as a straight through pipe, note, a middle section straight through pipe should have no problems passing its mot but will make it louder

the back box is self explanatory, the great big box on the back

hope this clears somethings up, correct me if im wrong with any of the above

o.k thanks for that... freemo 77...

so basically the middle section that powerflow suply with ther catback system is just the same as a straight though middle section but just with a silencer.

or long life will do me a full straight through pipe. this is removing the cat and just fitting me a straight through pipe all the way to the middle so it will be de-cat...... for the same price £100..

a straight though mid section is a straight through mid section be it from ktec, yozza, powerflow or any other exhaust system supplier. it will make the car louder. a decat and no mid silencer is crazy loud(thats what i have) decat is a bit of a pain in the arse to change over on 172's kinda wished id never done it as at mot its a fucker.(or just find a friendly mot guy)

Just to add to this, I put my cat back on today and even with my straight through ktec supersports it's boringly quiet now ha. With the decat it sounded like a rally car. I'll be putting it back on when I get more sociable hours at work and if no1 buys it.
