Mileage

I've got the opportunity to buy a 'K' reg valver, in good condition, needs a little bit of work done to it, few hundred quids worth, but the car's gonna be cheap as its through a mate. It needs MOT and service, but once money's been spent on it, it'll sail through.

However, the car's currently on 108k. Would you buy a car with such high mileage?

Waiteys has just gone over 150k, andyvalvers is on 148k. as long as its been serviced properly and had cambelt etc replaced i don't think there should be too much trouble.

I have a feeling cambelt will also need doing, don't they cost silly money? I remember getting quotes on my old 172 for £400+!

k reg is 1995 IIRC. if you take the average of 10k a year mileage, its nothing to worry about as long as its been looked after.

K reg is 92-93 so is actually under the usual 'average mileage'.

I've had 3 19 16v's, all with over 130k without any problems when i've sold them on. My current one was on 158k before I replaced the engine. I bought it on roughly 115k, hadn't had any special servicing before I got it, and I propbably serviced it quite a bit less than recommended (ie oil changes every 15k to 20k!) and it was always driven hard without any problems.

108k on a f7p engine shouldn't be anything at all to worry about, but just check the obvious before you buy it

When I borrowed Wayne and Kathys old grey valver, that was a 92k with 120k on the clock, it still ran perfectly.

Get the cam belt done to be safe and you should be fine.

As long as its been looked after Mike, should be ok

As for cambelt, Clarkie did mine for over £200 cheaper than Renault!
