Missfire + management light = unhappy

Coming home on the mototrway, doing 70mph, car started to hesitate, management light on. Sounds like a subaru

So, I checked the aux belt, still there, so dont think the cambelt has jumped.

Had a look at the plug leads, they all look fine and seated under the inlet. So, I am thinking either coilpack, or plug has failed.

Funny how I put tesco momentum fuel in for the first time tonight and its s**t a brick on me. b*****d.

Anyone in the Manchester region got a spare coilpack I can try before I start pulling the inlet off it?

check for fluid in spark plug wells mate, fletch had a similar prob as did i and was this

i know when my dads v6 coil pack has gone it sounds like a scooby, so it might be complete useless post but could be coil pack.

Well, having looked through here, it could be

1. Coilpack
2. Injector
3. Plug

or something sinister :dapprove:

So, ideally, and sorting the easy things first, I was thinking of checking the coilpack with a spare, then checking the injectors are spraying, then finally taking off the inlet.

Will I need new gaskets if I am taking the inlet off?

+1 I had similar and turned out to be the same as Dave said.

Could also be something as simple as a dodgy HT lead. Start the engine Give them a wiggle after you've followed Dave's advice.

remove the leads

remove the plugs and inspect

that costs nothing!

and will take around 20 minutes..

the gaskets are metal, you wont split them I would also say that it sounds like oil/water in the sparkplug well. You dont jetwash the engine do you?

Injector ordered from Renault Centre off eGay. Hopefully it should be in transit right now. Got it for a cracking price too, with a little CS discount.

Hm, my car is doing this as well, I take it there is a specific way you tested the injectors, if you could enlighten me it would be appreciated! Pm me if its easier!

Take your injector rail cover off by the 2 bolts, then have the car running, and take the plug off each injector one by one.

the car should struggle every time you pull one off, until the one you pull off doesnt make a difference, thats the injector thats fucked

well my one is intermittant, so i would need to wait till it happened again, think i will just remove the fuel rail and see what one is not firing correctly!

This! Happened to mine yesterday and last night it was taken apart and there was a load of water in there. Tissue to wipe the spark plugs off with and some WD40 and after a drive it seems (fingers crossed) all good.

Sounded like a machine gun though.

Im going to check the resistance of the injectors after taking some advice from knowledgable people, and if they all seem fine i will recheck the plugs/leads!

Is removing the head and checking the spark plugs easy enough to do? I have the tools, but not taken the head off before. What are the steps and precautions to take?

its dead easy, 5 bolts at the front top of the inlet and 2 at the back plus a further 4 on the coilpack itself (if you want to split the coilpack from the inlet take these off)

just take your time with the bolts and dont do them up too tight, from what i have read they are a bit fragile
