Mk 1 172 Gear Knob

Is there any way to remove it ?

Large wrench underneath it and hammer upwards.

Try warming it up a bit first I think that loosens it up a bit, melts the glue or something. Best way to get it off is it get it with a Mole Grip and twist it off, but that usually damages the knob quite badly as there's quite a lot of force needed.

That's speaking from experience with the gear knob in my 1.2, I don't think the 172 one should be much different.

The Mk1 172 gear knob is aluminum not plastic so a mole grip will f**k it up completely.

Can you not saw it off lol

dont want to saw it off, always liked them but its a bit fucked, was going to try and get it off, get it sprayed, then remove my one and put it on

i would be tempted to spray it on the car.

if you prepare it carefully and cut some backing paper so that it fits underneith it to collect the overspray you shouldn't have a problem
