mk 2 1.6 16v

hi eveyone,
this is my first post, so hi.
im about to buy a clio 1.6 16v and was wondering if anyone could give me advice on common problems to look for, i have an ibiza at the moment and i know that all of the cars have certain problems any thing like that on the clio.

anyway hope you can help look forward to joining the clio family

what age u after?

the coils are the main problem. the coils are pretty crap but renault can replace under warrenty.
ive not had any problems with mine apart from with the coils

what ibiza u got at the mo?

im looking for a car between 2001 - 2005, so i gotta look at coils thats good to know,

i currently have a 1.4 2001 seat ibiza, slow as hell

personally i would just buy a revo chip for it. will make it as quick as a 1.6 clio for just 500quid

the main reason im changing is the poor reliablity of the ibiza, i intend to modifiy the clio so i want a strong base engine

dont buy a 1.6 then, unless u fancy spending 10k to make it a super1600. if u want a good base engine then get a 172/182. i'm surprised you had trouble with the ibiza, mine was far more reliable than my clio

Best get a 172 IMO then thats got a better engine and box to start with.

get a 172 more fun easier to tune , 1.6's are good but theres nowt in them between 1.2, 1.4 and 1.6's

im affraid its insurance thats stops me getting a 172, i will look into it tho. i will point out that im only 19

better off with a 1.6 for the experience the up to a 172 when you have a few years under your belt

go for a 1.6 then. as for tuning, get a sealed induction kit, catback exhaust and decat and i wouldnt Bother with any more. then just style it to your tastes.
