mk1 1.8 lump

  53 Clio's & counting
you mean a valver engine mate? i have seen it done once, dont see too much point though, as its just as much work as fitting a 172 engine

  ValverInBits
F3P 1.8 8v - probably not, but a similar lump to the volvo turbo lump so someone will know something

F7P 1.8 16v (valver) - Yes, theres a rally car in project threads, theres an F7P turbo about to go into a MK2, theres more too. Straightforward tbh. 137bhp, or williams F7R 150bhp and plenty more torque.

Edit: Re post#2 - the only real point would be that valver engines are cheap cheap cheap. £50-100 per engine sometimes with a box. Tops of £200-250 for something running cams or something

  Petrol Blue 182.
yes its the valver lump, been offered a valver for a small fee, and wonderd if the engine would be able to fit into mine as the shell isn't in the best condition

  53 Clio's & counting
ah, well yes it would, but if the shell is scrap then anything over £100 isn't really worth it, you could put it in yours, but only if the engine is in good nick, and making close ti its proper power, iv seen thrashed ones only make in 120's bhp

  1.2 16valve sport
im putting one in mine as there cheap. 130 pounds for extra 50 bhp plus there quite tunable e.g putting a 2.0 megane bottom end on. Mine isent in yet just sourcing mounts.

Only thing im worried about is the wiring but my mechanic is confident he will be able to do it

  1.2 16valve sport
i cant find this one in the project threads that has been done before second time ive read this ive been searching for over a hour

  R5 GTT EFI Clio.
I cant find it either Olly, although my engine is coming along nicely,

Was speaking to a dude on here and he said the best thing to sort wiring on the fuze box there is a big connection that goes to the engine, he said to go the scrappy and cut one off with plenty of wiring left connected to it, (just the plug with wires going into it) sort the wiring to that plug before dropping the engine in, drop it in, plug it in, and bingo, sounds easy but the wiring looks tricky.

I am dropping a F7P turbo lump in my PH2mk2 when it is built,

Olly you managed to get any pics of your build yet?

almost sure there was a guy who built a rally car from his original MK1 rally car engine (F7P/R on ITBs). It was a CAT D/C MK2Ph2 shell that he built up into a rally car. Do some searching.

ive done loads of searching still cant find, sorry i havent really been in contact nick ive only been going on forums for quick checks as been really busy. I took pics on wednesday but its on my friends phone and he has uploaded them to computer yet.

Realised im missing a mount, if i can get someone to splice the looms and make one that will plug and play for me im jus going to fit it myself because it becomming tricky booking it in with my mechanic

ive got mrk 1 engine mount, the top left one if looking in the engine bay.

Not sure what else i need im confused. Ive got a mrk 1 dogbone, but think im missing a mount as i cant see were it fits to my gearbox/ r5 box basically same as a valver one i think.

Also doesnt the engine have another mount?

Its alright Olly, i know how busy it gets LOL, i am using the 172 box with mine, as far as im aware can use the mk2/172 top gear box mount (battery mount as its called??) mk1/valvr/f7p top mount, and mk1 bottom mount to go to the drilled sub frame, not sure about the dogbone,

Thats for the F7P engine anyways,

  1.2 16valve sport
ye i think i need the mount that goes to the drilled subframe and i think the 172 mount is differnt from my 1.2 as the one ive currently got wont bolt onto the r5 box so need to get that. And then i need a bit that goes onto my gearbox for the dogbone to connect to.

Thought i had it all fuking hassle lol. still got the wiring to tackle. At least engine is all built up and ready to go

  R5 GTT EFI Clio.
Yeh, i think i can use the mount from my 1.2 box as the 172 box has the same mount pickup point, i have the valver mount on its way from f0xy, already have the subframe mount, just need to buy the rubber part that sits between it and the subframe.

Quite worried about space tbh, and not sure what running gear i am going to need, im looking forward to the wiring for some strange reason, going to the scrappy soon so hoping to sorce some bits like battery box ect and move it to the boot ready, Getting there slowly, need to find a job though big time.

  1.2 16valve sport
ye ive got a few bits from scrappy, and was going to ask foxy for the mrk1 mounts damm you lol.

If i didnt need the car daily i would of started work and proberly ended up doing the wiring myself.

But because i use the car it cant be off road for no more then a week start to finish.

What is making it really hard for me, otherwise it would be done by now.

Contenplating whether to get insured on my brothers bmw whilst i do it, the only problem is i chose this conversion as its a lot cheaper then the 172 but its starting to build up.

I know it builds fast dont it LOL

I need to get a battery box, a bmw connector so everyone tells me is the best opton, and a few other things for the battery relocation, and some cable, got a mate to give me a hand as he is intrested in this build so thought why not :) extra pair of hands aint it lol!

Cant wait to get my crank in ect now, mount should turn up after weekend will get that bolted back on ect :)

Just want to sort the bottom end so i can get the head back on as i have a brand new gasket ect and head bolts, and most the stuff for the top end!

I have decided, being as i am turbo charging mine, i am going to use the audi/vw 1.8 20V turbo manifold, means i am going to have to make a adapter plate that bolts to my head, then audi manifold bolts to the adapter plate, f0xy very kindly sent me a used exhaust gasket that my father can use as a template to machine me a adapter plate, only thing i am worried about is 1 or 2 of the studs on the audi manfold is gonna be ontop of some of the ones on the adapter plate,

But getting there slowly :D

yeeer sounds good mate, im know thinking of bolting my f7p top end onto a f7r williams/megane bottom end for the extra grunt and low down torque.

If you want a K03 (golf Mk4 GTI, A3 1.8T, plenty of others) manifold I have one up for sale.
