Mk1 1998 - Speaker wiring

Hello, all, one of my first posts. I managed to get a 1998 Clio BIARRITZ 1.2l . Now i ran my own wiring for standard clio speakers as i managed to get hold of them before i start to mess around with the 6x9s i may fit in a stealth shelf. Now the ISO connector already had rear speaker wire fitted into it. I have no idea where this wire is, i cant find it at the back of the car running down the sides. Is this cable coiled up or just cut and placed somewhere as the car i have didnt come with rear speakers. Any help would be great.

Thanks.

Should be tucked up under the trim above the rear wheel arches....
Wont be miles of it, from what I remember, just enough to grab hold of...

Where abouts? In the black round cover which runs to the headlights? Ive taken the felt down and still couldnt see them at all. Is it possible they would be coiled up or actually physically there, just not connected near the speaker?

I am working from memory it’s a few years since I worked on that car, so nothing guaranteed, but I seem to recall the wires and connectors were tucked behind the trim where the rear speakers would fit.
Renault used to do a retrofit kit for that car and the speakers came with a short adaptor lead ready to plug onto the cable end connectors.

You should find them if you drop the rear seat and remove the trim above the wheel arches, if there not there then at least you are half way to running the cables.
Good luck….

Well the ISO connectors are there for back speaker cables, i just cannot find them. Ive dropped the seats, taken down the trim and its in a plastic casing. Not taken them out yet, but ill take a look. Ive ran my own cables, to each speaker unit, just need to attatch them to the ISO part now then.

Thanks.

Anyone else know where they would be?

If you have run speaker wires, why not just go the whole way to the front and splice them at the head unit.

Did you find the speaker cables in the end, because im looking for them at the moment. Because my biarritz never had door speakers, I wanted to fit my own, so, I took the door cards off and found the cable to the 'would be' door speakers taped to the inside of the door...which was handy!

Im assuming the car has the same arrangement for the non existant rear speakers, but I cant find them god damn it!

^^ door speakers? I mines in the dash,

Yeah, so are mine...but ive also installed some in the doors. If you take the cards off and put your hand inside the door and hava feel about where the speaker would be; Renault have kindly supplied the cables to connect some new door speakers. which saved me lots of time and effort :)

Cool, so would that be were the wire for the rear speakers ends? As the oem connector to the HU only has 4 speakers attached to it

Now thats what i thought but alas, when I tried to fade to the rear to see if they where, it never faded! I dont understand it myself tbh. I have two front sets of speakers. Sound strange - well it is! I never set up the HU etc, I just installed new speakers in the doors. There must be the rear connectors somewhere in the car stashed away somewhere.

I gave up and ended up running cables to the back under the trim. I would swap them to the cars wiring for neatness if I could. I'll have a look at the weekend in the boot again.

I still didnt find them at all. I decided just to strip the wire at the iso, then solder it.

Now i have 4 speakers. Two in the dash, and two in the rear just before the parcel shelf.

I would love to know where the speaker wire goes as i still cant trace it or find it.

As Ive said above, take the cards off and look on the inside of the door. They're taped to it. just cant find any rear speaker cables!

Im wanting rear speakers, not door speakers. My dash speakers are fine, maybe ill cut the doors as a later mod, but not for now.

Cheers for letting me know they are in the door card. The rear speakers are more important to me than the side door speakers. I want SURROUNDDDDDD sound :p
