Mk1 clio 1.2 project need some ideas!!!

hi all i have jus bought a clio Mk1 and need a few ideas as to what engine to put in it? whats an easy but powerful project? i have slight mechanical experience i know my way round a engine and car and have friends that are fabricators/mechanics so let me know people

Depends on budget, valver would be cheapest,Williams for good all rounder, RSi for a giggle,Volvo turbo for boost,f4r for more modern approach.loads of options tbh

Your getting confused.
1.8rsi is 8 valve
1.8 16v is a valver. They are pretty even tbh.

Then there's the Williams 2.0 16v much different compared to the other two. And faster!

1.8 16v is people are litterally giving them away. One guy got his for £7.20 on eBay the other day.

They are heavy buggers. I mean heavy lumps.

Some people are putting 172 engines in them now. Even more power really.
Depends on budget.

Also condition of these engines (clio mk1 1.8 16v (commonly called valver) ) is key.

Get yourself onto clio16valver - mark 1 forum really, not a busy but great for parts.

cheers everyone! also does anyone know the extent of the swap as in would i have to change drive shafts and is the loom any problems?

Swap everything. Mk1 valver hubs are different offsets, struts are different. Looms change required if its a phase 3. I swapped the lot, hubs drive shafts (as they are different also).

Was a good bit of work, but worth it.
