mk1 clio 1.4?

are they any good? also what tuning is available?i had a quick look on hill power.they do alot of stuff,just it just seem abit un believable the bhp increases that is!

You can get quite good power from these engines tbh. With cams/chipped/headwork some have seen 100bhp +. You've also got the option of putting a 1.6 bottom end on there for an extra 10bhp. I considered going down that route but in the end thought it was going to cost too much. But if you are doing it for insurance reasons it could be a great idea as you can get good power without have to declare anything extra.
 
The best way any decinet gains is a more powerful engine a 1.8 or 2.0 engine will give way more power for £.

You can as said get some fair increases but the cost does add up more than say a 2.0 Williams engine etc which gives 150hp+ easy.

Yeah, I shoudl have said that. If you can afford the insurance it's much better to go for a 1.8 or 2.0 but if it's for insurance reasons then the 1.4 is certainly a reasonably option if your willing to spend the cash.
