Mk1 clio, i want it to flash

  MK1 Clio 16v
Right,

I've owned three MK1 clios now and i absolutely love my valver. The one thing that has ALWAYS bugged me is the fact you can't actually 'flash' someone when you have your headlights on. You can only click them on, and click them off.

I find it really annoying, as i can't flash my friends that flash me as i go past sometimes, nor can i flash to thank people at night.

What can i do about it? Can i modify the original indicator stalk to make it do what i want? What about obtaining an indicator stalk from another french car, say a saxo or something? Would that work? Do they use the same connector?

I'm guessing you can't flash with your headlights on for a reason. I know the same bulb is used for main/dipped beam and i know it's either one or the other, you can never have both on at the same time. If i forced the bulb to use both filaments at the same time, would that do damage? Kill the bulb? etc?

I'd really like to hear anyones opinions about this as its driving me nuts!

Thanks all

lol at the faulty stalk.

I know what you mean though mate, its proper annoying that you cant flash with the lights on. Even my 182 is like that! Whats worse is that the 182 lights are auto so they are not actually turned on on the stalk and still you cant flash! (If that makes sense)

wire up the dipped beam to come on when the sidelights are then when you flash it will just flash yet turn it one more click for constant full beam

Get this in mine with the auto lights when there on, is proper annoying. Have just taken to clicking them on and off full beam quickly, does the job still is a pain though.

i'm lucky i dont have to do that :D mine are nice and simple! turn on sides, turn on dip and then you can turn on main beam. or you can flash main beam whenever you like.

there will be a way of doing it somehow i would imagine.

Love the smart comments!

I've been doing that for ages now, and half the time if i try to click on/off quickly to 'flash' someone, it sometimes doesn't click off properly, and i end up blinding people.

I have Rally bulbs in my car, due to the bonnet covering half my light. Most of the MK1 drivers will know the STD lights aren't the brightest things in the world, so having Rally bulbs in mine makes them about as bright as any other newer car.

Anyway, i light the idea of wiring the dipped beams up to the sidelight switch, how easy do you think that would be? I guess i could install a switch somewhere to operate my sidelights just in case i needed them on independently.

Still worried about what it could do to my bulbs though, could they get too hot and cause a fire? Also, i'd need to turn my headlights on if i wanted full beam to stay on.

Seems far too annoying to me. It'd be nice if i could install a stalk from another car that would actually flash as it's supposed to. Does anyone think this would be possible?

Cheers peeps

I can flash mine, as long as I don't pull the stalk too far forward as it puts the high beam on permanently, other than that, no problem.
Is it different for the ph2 mk2 than the others then?

I can't believe nobody has tried this! I think i'll have to see if i can get my hands on a stalk from a saxo or something and see if i can connect it up.. maybe that would work...

Hmm!
