Mk1 clio turbo diesel

  Renault clio mk1 p3
Someone once told me that i would be able to fit a Renault 19 dt engine and box to my clio Mk1 1.9d, and even a Megane dt engine would fit.

Now what i asking is:

Is this true and if so how hard would it be to fit.

Does the clio Mk1 diesel, renault 19 dt and megane dt have any ecu?

Does any one know of any garages that could do this in the london/kent or essex areas?

Any help please:cool:

  1.8 8v RSi
next question is....should i concider gettin a 1.8 16v conversion for near enough the same price?

Don't get a 1.8 16v conversion, will cost you s**t loads to insure as its a conversion, just get a 1.8 16v, its a better modding base and if you look hard you can get a decetn example for under £1k.

The mk1 clio diesel box is a stronger box (JC5), but the ratios are piss poor for a petrol car, ie 140 from a williams in 4th......the megane boxes (not sure about R19) have a different mount spacing, you need a megane box mount and need to mod it.

Best off looking for another 1.2/1.4 box, s**t loads in scrap yeards

The 19 is exactly the same as the clios. iirc the turbo on the td lump wont fit in as the bulkhead hits? im not certain having never done it, i just remember reading it somewhere.

I've just converted my old 1.9D into a 1.2 petrol, not driven it on the road yet, but id say it will handle better, diesel springs ar harder, antiroll bar as standard, could be a good base for a decent 1.4? if on a budget or something you know.

No idea but yeah,, it just pulls and pulls. Not very econimical atm due to a fucked diesel pump leaking! So its off the road again but no biggie

what sort of power/torque do they run? hardly a track toy but torquey and economical likely!

65hp about 110lb toque I think from memory so about the same as the 1.5 dci 65 does.

I agree its a good enine though a little underpowered though but powers not everyhting.

I need to know if the standard Clio F8Q diesel engine wiring and glow plug relay box be ok to use on a TD lump as there is no ECU.

I think i have a lucas pump fitted, are these also fitted to TD lumps?

and would i have to fit a different manifold?

Thanks:cool:

  None
I would suggest using the td manifolds as im sure they will be the only ones that will fit properly

Is there any way of fitting a bigger turbo on my 1.9d mk1 clio if so what turbos fit?

Thread from the dead!!

I don't know the answer but I suspect anything is possible - but if you fit a bigger turbo, you'd also need to re-map and increase the fuelling, get the emissions correct, make sure the rods aren't made of chocolate... lol
