Mk1 fuel gauge

Hi all, iv had my clocks apart while fitting some led's and when I put the needles back, the fuel and the water gauge don't seem to be working properly. They sit at bottom before I turn the key, then once iv turned the key the water goes stright up to half way and then as the car getting warmer it goes up from half way to off the scale. The fuel gauge also is misleading, I appear to have more petrol then I did before lol,
if anyone has any idea how to solve, would be a great help thanks

You haven't put the needles back on where there were before.

Should have taken a pic before, was a pain when I did it! Never right after as I gave up
