mk1 immobiliser and plip key

my central locking hardly works on the button anymore so i use the key in the door but this doesnt disengage the immobiliser so i have to struggle trying to get the button to work, is there a way round this? also im changing the ecu soonish will my central locking and immobiliser still work?

my ph1 i have a seperate key for the immobiliser, i tohught this would be the case on all of the mk1's? the plip key merely operates the central locking...

Have you replaced the battery in the keyfob

I don't think the EUC will effect the central locking in any way, UNLESS IT'S ONE A RENAULT GARAGE!!!

These are such a problem - 1st of all what year is your car ??????? if your vehicles plip key activates your central locking and arms and disarms your immobilser the 1st thing to check is the batteries. When you have done this the 2nd thing to do is take the plip key apart and check for breakage on the circuit board - a common fault is the diode coming away from the circuit board on the 2 metal supports - this can be repaired with a soldering iron. The next stage is to check the plip eye reciever in the roof lining - a common fault is water seeping through the roof aerial seal onto the circuit board and corroding the reciever circuit board. If this is knackered replace it 7700835095 £31.83 + vat. Next stage is to have the plip key reprogrammed ( £50 ish ) If that doesnt work order a new key ( £70 + vat then £50 to have it programmed in ) If all else fails it could be an ECU fault ( £250 - £350 ) An alternative suggestion is get a complete ECU kit from a similar vehicle that works fine - make sure you get the chassis number off the donor car incase you need to programme the key. It is essential you get a kit that has the same ECU part number as your old ECU. The most common type are the Siemens / sagem and Bosch unit

its not the battery's, im pretty sure its water coming through messing it up, i ordered a willy ecu today, what happens now regarding the ecu/immobiliser?

Williams ecu will-not work on the 1.8, or if it does will run bad

Williams ECU's have no immobiliser information in them at all - Williams had a completly seperate alarm unit..

But yea.. a Williams ECU won't run a 1.8 16v very well.. (if at all.. heh)
