Well Jay youre one up on me cause before I got mine I had only seen pictures................and I had bought (£1000s) and paid for it 8hours before I even saw it :D

Is there not someone close who would give you a blast in theires?

And no its not as good driving one as it is looking at one............ITS BETTER (y)

Ill second that Stu - Id never driven one before I bought mine, and had only seen 5 or 6 in the flesh.

It was worth every penny, and I dont think Id have been as happy buying anything else! (except maybe an RS200... but I dont have a spare £50k burning a hole!)

i only saw 2 before i bought mine, didnt care what it drove like, just wanted one from the word go. I went to a dealership to look at one through the glass and thought im gonna have one of them!! It was the same when i first saw the mk1 172 on the telly, that advert where nicole smashed the piano with a sledgehammer, 2 litres into one clio, it goes!!! its renaultsport all the way now! :D

I bet there arent many people who are married carrying on like this eh..................cant be to many wives who would accept saying "oh thats nice weve just spent £15k on a car.........so whats it like"...........only for the married man to say I DONT KNOW havent driven it, havent even seen one never mind this one :D

When I originally placed my order for the Mk1 Clio (some 2 years before the first rolled off the production line) there wasnt even a prototype available for test drive, although there was a V6 (possibly mock-up) up on a ramp outside some hotel on the M4 in West London, so I made a special trip over to look round it, though my order was already placed by then anyway, and I had decided I was having it no matter what it drove like! I had that convo with my then girlfriend - "were spending £26k on a new car" - "whats it drive like?" - "no idea...."

Sadly change in circumstances meant I had to canx my order a year later (just after Id been offered delivery of a silver one, though I was still holding out for my illiad blue one on order).

This time around, I wasnt going to let silly little things like not knowing what it drove like stop me from buying it - though after 5 mins in the drivers seat giving it hell around the Devon roads, it was very clear that it drove every bit as well as I had hoped, and then some!

The mk1 vee gets some bad press & reviews, and I had expected it to feel almost sluggish, such is the sl*gging it gets in the press for being overweight and underpowered - I can only think that many of these "journalists" havent actually got behind the wheel of one. Theyre all quick to recommend a 172, but I bought one of those for my ex, and having driven both, theres simply no comparison.

Now that theyre down to approx £13k second hand, then its almost a no-brainer to me. £16k for a new 182 or £13k for a cherished V6.... Unless you need the back seats, more luggage space, or cant cope with the fuel or insurance bills, then it has to be the bargain of the century!

BUY BUY BUY!

Just my humble opinion....
