Mk2 Clio Dci 100's.

  Italian 3.2 V6
What gains are achievable from these? 130bhp?

Who owns/driven one? How are they to drive, Any fun in the right hands?

PSJ.

ive got a mapped one 130bhp 190lb/ft

as with all dynamiques in 1.4, 1.6 and dci trim they handle extremely well, not far off 172 levels of grip, just a bit soft, mine is half way thru getting 182 cup dampers, hubs, ARB and eibach sportlines so it will handle awesome.

also fitting a FMIC and another map to brake the 200lbft mark!

they have a hydraulic clutch so is ultra lite, amazing in traffic, standard acceleration is on par with 1.6 16v clios, mapped its mid way between the 1.6 and the 172. 5th gear 80-100 my 100 is on par with my 172 (obviously in the 172 you would drop to 4th to get the most out of it in this situation)

Sounds impressive!

What realistic MPG do u get out of it? How many miles to a tank? I assume it will cost roughly the same to fill up as 1*2's.

More, it's a 50 litre tank. And you shouldn't compromise on fuel by shoving supermarket shite in to it. They run well on Shell Diesel Extra (NOT vpower or BP ultimate).

Think Martin said when he was gunning it he didn't drop below 50mpg.

going for it on my average drive home from work (35 odd miles) late at night i average about 50mpg and dont drop much under 125mph lol

taking it extremely easy, really trying to get massive mpg mid 70's is possible with the climate control off however 60 odd is a good number to base the "average" mpg on.

not sure on how many miles to a tank i stick £10 in it every 3 or so days doing my 60+mile round trip, when im not working i stick £5 in it and drive about town all week lol

If you were very careful for a month, what is the maxium amount of miles you think you could get from a tank?

I would need around 600 if i was to get one as a to and from work car.

Haha that's class! Basically half as cheap as running a 1*2 and realisticly not much slower!

130bhp per ton (and alot more torque) seems decent enough compared to 1*2 150bhp per ton (seeing as 1*2's are all down on power std!)

So tempted to "downgrade" to save money!!! Just love the LY too much :( don't think I could do it!

PSJ.

my old 65 used to do around 700 miles to a tank and that wasnt trying massively hard either, i recon the 100 would do 650 to a tank (that equates to around 60mpg using an online calculator) so sounds about right

That's average mate. Mostly motorway but some town too.

Costs me £60 to fill 'er up. Going for 700 miles this month as I'm skinto lol.

i was forced to downgrade my last 190bhp 172 to the 100 when i was moved from work and honestly didnt regret it, the money saving was considerable (unlike if i had downgraded to a 1.2 or something) so i loved that fact. plus its so quiet and smooth around town unlike my 172 was, its quite funny when you give it full throttle in 3rd or 4th gear around town, where the 172 would just make a loud fart and start to slowly accelerate in the dci you just hear the sunroof creak and it effortlessly flys along with 190lbft from 1900rpm, my mate always jokes that the sunroof is creaking due to the torque twisting the shell haha

then over a year i paid off all my debt and saved up enough for my ph1 172 which i use on my days off :)

heres a video i done a while back showing what happens when you put your foot down in 5th at 60mph on the motorway for an overtake, would have been a bit quicker had i actually been on a smooth motorway ;)

Sounds so tempting! Maby once summer is over! Maby :S

600+ miles a tank is brilliant! Just brilliant!

What's it as quick as running 130Bhp? Std fabia VRS?

They're impressive cars the Mk2 Dci's. I'm a big fan of them. MPG is epic and even a standard 80 feels fairly nippy.

MK3 Dci's are no good imo. I've driven an 86 and it felt gutless, the weight kills both the nippyness and mpg.

ive had a blast with a standard vrs when it was first mapped and it was on par with the vrs, i would think the vrs would have been quicker above 80mph on the motorway but i was on a twisty B road so didnt get a good comparison to actual straight line speed.

my mate has a 120bhp stripped out 106 rallye (not sure what they weigh, under 900kg?!) and cant shake it in a straight line after 2nd gear LOL!

That overtake Is so smooooth!

As long as it would be as quick as a twingo 133 I'd be happy, don't think I could downgrade to slower than that!!

This thread is annoying me.

Can't wait!

How much torque out of a 100bhp remapped 80 approx would you say Martin?

The thing I was shocked at was my Dci's weight. 890kg iirc?
na not as little as that i beleive 980kg or there abouts?

at a guess, 175/180lbft, trying to think if anyone on cliodci.net has a mapped 80?

it would be on par with the twingo id say, slower in first and 2nd due to diesels not reving very high or accelerating quickly low down in the box, but deffo on par if not quicker 3rd+, i considered a twingo 133 but couldnt deal with the lack of torque, makes them feel slow! id say a mapped dci feels like a 150bhp petrol imo

Surely mapping alone from 80 to 115 would sink the MPG into the ground?

Not seen anyone on dci.net with one (I do browse there often ;) ), around the 175lb mark is good though!

mpg when really going for it gets slightly worse but not that much. around town it gets better (on the good maps anyway)

the guy who mapped mine offered me 3 options!

massive economy map (with a small gain!)
in between map
big power map

power please!!!

POWA.

I think I'd leave it as that personally, injectors etc aren't worth what they'd cost IMO. What else is there other than that?

injectors arnt a problem with remaping etc, the fuel system is fine, its people putting tuning boxes on them and ramping up the fuel pressure that will cause problems with the pump.

imho the only problem you will get from remaping is premature clutch wear if driven hard

The cost of injectors though (£200 new each where abouts?) plus getting them coded to the car from what I've heard, then getting it mapped. Really worth it for what they offer?

Clutches aren't too expensive, or are they alot more than the non sports at around £120?

Cheers Martin!

ahh sorry were you on about upgrading to 80 injectors on a 65 as a mod?, i thought you ment you didnt want to map incase the injectors failed. you could probably get a set of 80 injectors supplied and fitted for £400 maby less, along with a £275 remap, that would be less than £800 for 50bhp gain, not to be sniffed at! lol i paid more than that for my full exhaust system on my first 172 and probably gained 10bhp lol

EDIT: clutches are just over £100 for genuine Valeo, no aftermarket options out there apart from custom

  DCi 100
Upgrading 80 injectors mate, not looking at getting a 65!

Tbh anything over the 1.2 will be a gain I guess.

  DCi 100
100 uses the same injectors as the 80 matey :) its the turbo thats the limit on the 80, the 100's is huge for what it is! lol

Didn't someone get injectors off a TDI Audi/Focus for there's?

Is it the fuel rail that changes the psi from 1400 to 1600 from 80 to 100 DCi's?

You got a pic of your 100? What mods u done to it?

Just brief look on things to mod it, I'd do the following on a black 100 lol
-apex springs
-remap n filter
-15" anth 2118's/Oz F1's wrapped in R888's ;)
-brembo disks n braided lines with some decent pads

I recon it would be half decent then! Plenty of fun!

PSJ.

  DCi 100
Get a set of 172 alloys with some PE2's on or something, and a set of F1's with 888's IMO.

I wouldn't want to be going anywhere long distance with 888's knowing the weather in England, in the rain last week I couldn't see anything on the motorway with nothing infront of me! From what I've heard (not tried them yet!) about 888's is that aquaplaining it rife.

I've always wondered why people map diseasels for more power? Sure the idea of buying a diseasel is to get decent MPG?

I've done the maths MJ, I get worse MPG than my Clio 1.2 . . . but I bought it for power, not economy. Dad bought a diseasel for a second car to get decent MPG, not tune to the same torque as the R8 . . . :S

Am I missing something?
