Is your boot latch loose or totally solid? Can you move it about?

Cheers thanks. It's not that that's causing it then.

I guess I'll have to leave it up to the body shop next week.

I'm pretty sure mine's solid, but I'm not about to walk out onto my drive wearing me under crackers and start waggling it about.

Do it you lazy sod and I'll post some 8800 GTS benchmarks to get you moist.

Since I got rear ended a few weeks ago something in the back is banging, it could be the parcel shelf, bumper or boot lid. Plus he new exhaust is rattling away happily, so that's in again next week. Looks like I'll have to leave it to the body shop to see what's wrong. They can fix the screw they cross thread for the boot net while they are at it.

While I'm moaning the windscreen got cracked earlier this week so I'm now on screen number 3. :dapprove:

It is supposed to move about so when you close the boot it finds the latch on the other side.

As you know metal expans etc... the boot lid may also move slightly.

If it wasnt loose and you close the boot you may catch it or break the entire thing.

Yep moves about, I had great problems with mine, it failed once on the way to Germany. We had to strap the boot down for the entire trip.

It went back into Renault to be fixed only for it to fail again and again.

Might be the rear plastic panel on the inside of the boot lid, the clips have a habit of either breaking or coming away. Just check to see if it's loose at all..
If not then it might be wheel arch/bumper lining at the back as they are usually on clips/screws too. Even more so if you've had a rear end bump.

Also, the boot locking latch on mine is loose too, I think renault designed it that way

Hi mate I had this annoying rattly noise coming from my boot area took me bloody ages to find it try this..
Open the boot remove the plastic cover at the bottom of boot, have a look through the gaps you will see these bones or splint things!?! 3 in total I think which are supposed to be glued connecting the outer and inner boot together..
One of those has become loose on one side and was rattling/banging all the time so I had to bent it back slightly, I thought at first it was my exhaust then something to do with my rear wiper.......

Rob.
