The 1.6 16v Clio is quite a fast wee car, makes 110bhp and does 0-60 in 9.3 in comparisson to a 106 GTi or a Saxo VTS it would get hammered in a race. The power to weight ratio kills it, The VTS does 0-60 in 7.5 so you can imagine the diffrence.

The Zetec S is 98bhp and does 0-60 in 9.8....

The only problem with the saxo and 106 is they carry insurance groups of 15 which makes it a nightmare to insure

I thought the 1.6 in ph1 guise was only 8v? But saying that the 1.4 8v was replaced with a 16v unit towards the end of the ph1

Shame you are not closer to Bath, you could have had a run out in mine. I'm thinking of possibly selling it.

The MK2 PH1 was available in 16v also.

It is a relaxing car to drive, around this part of the country all the hills are quite steep but the car doesn't show any signs of struggling when climbing them, even when loaded.

the 1.6 16v pretty economical, will do about 47mpg on a good run, around town uses more.
Tax was £170 for 12 months this year.
Insurance is quite cheap, i dont know what group it's in, but it's not much less for me to insure a basic Ka.

ive got a rsi (1.6 16v)...theyre not slow...but on the other hand theyre not fast. would EASILY get killed by a gti or VTS tho.....more vtr spec and the likes!

..my bros got an si (1.6 8v)....again...theyre ok but nothing special

I was offered £1700 trade-in on mine at a main dealer Ford for a 3yo Ford Ka and at a main dealer Fiat £1800 against a C1. But mine is an RSi.

I guess £1800 to £2200 For a desent Ph1 dependant on milage, condition and history.

Get a top spec RSi if you can, has half leather, elec windows/mirrors/sunroof, air con etc. Im happy with mine, is quite capable on the road.
