Do these cars have the same engine spec as those of the manual's with different gearboxes?

I assume they would be, but just want to double check.

yes, was only available in 1.6 16v form though if i remember correctly.

1.6 mostly in the initiale/priveledge and with the 1.4 as well. The 1.2 16v was avaliable with the quickshift-5 box too which can operate as an auto.
