Mk2 Ph2 Lowering

My mate has one of the above and his plan is to get 17's fitted, question is if he does what the limit he can lower it by before it rubs?

40mm shouldnt be a prob at all with 17"s

althouigh 16"s lowered 70mm would be the tits
