Mk3 Clio (2007) Central Locking Noise

  2007 Clio
Hello.

When I remote press lock once then it locks the doors.

You can press it twice to deadlock it?

When I press it twice it locks and then deadlocks but the deadlocking only since today makes an awful noise like a (pretty) loud screeching noise at the drivers door locking area.

I also couldn't open the door from the inside this morning although locking / unlocking (without deadlocking) fixed it.

Whats wrong and how much is my Clio going to cost me lol? :(

The MkIII is common for it and as above, it needs a new door lock. From memory they're not actually that bad from Renault at around £60 IIRC

Is this easy to replace? Like old out, new in? does anything need coded to the car lock electric stuff?

Im off work on holiday next week so I'll do it then along with some other stuff that ive been putting off
:dead:

Thanks for any basic guides.

Door card off, remove the door handle and then the lock/actuator unit... its simple.

From memory, door card off. And undo the 3 t40 screws that hold the door catch in. You may struggle to get the cable off that links the outer door handle to the catch with out removing the outer door handle itself.

Thanks gents!

It is locking and deadlocking fine again today now with no noise.. however I will just change it anyway as it's clearly goosed.

Yeah they do that and one morning you'll come out to it and the deadlock mech won't re-engage and you won't be able to get into that door.

I've got one coming in later that went the other way and now won't engage the locking latch so its always open.

Change it before it needs destructive measures to change.
