Mk3 DCI 106 Tuning

Have been looking on the internet at these tuning boxes that you plug in and some of them give up to 30% power increase. That sounds quite nice but also they claim to gain around 5-7 mpg which is rather good aswell. Has anyone got one of these on a Mk3 or another DCI? just wondering if it's worth it and also if any damage is done to the engine with one fitted. I heard that engine runs a lot smoother with one fitted but have heard the revs are increased slightly. Does that mean the engine will idle higher than usual? any info would be great. Thanks!

Probably wont idle higher but you will most likely get more revs out at top! i been thinking bout doing my 86bhp dci but i dont know whether its worth it because its only at 86bhp at the moment anything i do wont put it up that much without spending big bucks!! if i had the 106 like you i would but i avnt so i might just hae mine to look at lol!

an 86 will see about 110hp thoguh

Worth it depends on load of stuff its upto you. HP costs money and cost per hp its not bad vs other car tunning.

engine won't run much different

revs won't increase.

Should get about 135hp ish an a fair bit of extra torque but dependshow much the box pushes and type.

depending on type depends on the risks to the engine best off with a proper remap but each to there won there advantages to tunning boxes.

a remap may improve mpg if my car wasnt in warenty id do my 86

ive got a dco 106. IMO its not really worth tuning it much cos its got plenty of power. Although I think you can tune it to around 130bhp

do it definitely.
Get it done by someone respectable. It's pretty much risk free although you may loose warranty (although my renault dealer in banbury does in house remaps that retain warranty iirc).

It's the best bhp/£ increase you will see by far IMO.

Just plug in and wind up the boost, us NA "suckers" have to spend hard wonga

Yeah i know it does seem to be able to get a big increase for quite little cash if you think about it. Well it's an option if i feel like it so thanks for all the responses chaps!

Nope its all to be do with being diesel can run more fuel and still be fine. being turbo just gives even more optential if you run more boost etc

Depends what type of box it is there loads of fiddles.
