Mk3 fault finding

Is there a way to find faults using the computer on the mk3 like you could on the mk2? I have a mk3 1.5 dci with the start button system and I hAve message on the dash saying electronic fault? Car is driving fine which is strange! Are there any common faults with these and is there a way to reset the ecu ?

You can buy an obd (on board diagnostics) Bluetooth adaptor off the internet and then get a fault finding app for your smartphone like "torque".
