Modified car insurance.

  Black 182 FF
I'm due to renew my car insurance on my 182 on the 29th and for the first time ever I've got mods and I'm going to declare them.

The only mod I currently have is my Eibach springs (which apparently lower it 15mm from standard), I'm 35, have five years no claims and I'm getting quotes around £100+ more than unmodified quotes - around the £540 mark having used confused.com, compare the market and the Autotrader website.

Is there any others people can recommend for modified cars, baring in mind there will probably be a stainless steel system on the car soon which I'll have to declare later too.

  Clio 172 Cup
I went direct to admiral,

24 - 3 years NCB

6 years driving

1 accident - not at fault

172 Cup 10,000 miles

Filter and exhaust declared.

£603 fully comp!

Adrian Flux for me, they're a broker, Highway cover the policy but all dealings with Flux.

No extra for stainless steel cat back, coilovers, uprated pads and lines. Have been told only performance mods will increase my insurance. I asked for 185bhp, they see it as 12bhp extra, extra £80 on a £780 policy.

I had my proton insured through Flux and I am pretty sure Highway are the actual insurer. It was pretty heavily modified and they were great.

highway are underwriters, flux are a broker.

HIC are good, Liverpool victoria are OK too. Buy a car mag like performance french cars and go thorugh the adverts, Online quotes are useless for modded

its HIC i was thinking of, they are the same company as Flux

do NOT use Liverpool Victoria for a modified car !!!

  Audi S1
+1 for Adrian Flux

Called them last week to see how much an aftermarket exhaust would add to my policy, they just said to let them know when it's fitted. No admin fee to pay either!

Herts & Flux are the same broker, i've been underwritten with Highway and Sarah is with NIG
Confused.com is owned by Admiral Group (who are also Elephant & Bell) so they arent exactly independent ...
Direct Line Group is Tesco, Churchill, etc

As an old fart, i find Flux to be very good :D

  Ph1 172 and Red 197
Flux where the best for me £900 for engine transplant, collies, stainless exhaust ......
21 + 2year NCB
Every 1 else £*000 and would only cover the stock car no mods

  williams 2,seat leon
i use a company called sky insurance, there in romford i think. they came up with 400 quid for my modded williams

thats with the following covered.
agreed value, and like foe like replacement if stolen
also covers

the turbo conversion with charge cooler and forged internals, alloys, exhaust, brakes, omex 600 managemnent and all the other stuff that goes with it. with optional track day cover.

i thought that was still dear until i saw what some of you are paying on other threads.

Brentacre and Flux both beat my previous quotes, went with Brentacre as they beat Flux by £40 or so, ended up paying around £455.

good lad, brentacre are an ace company to deal with, i found it worth paying more then flux to go with them again this year due to their customer service.

  Audi TT
my renewal with greenlight this year was £388 which I thought was alright. Flux couldn't touch it.

Will try Brentacre but think will be sticking with Greenlight.

Mods declared are different rims, carbon bonnet, carbon splitter, dark rear lights

S23

  The Cleee-O
Adrian Flux for me also. £30 cheaper modified, and also unlimited miles as opposed to capped at 8000.

Mods listed;
x Coilovers,
x Alloys,
x Rear Lights,
x Different Spoiler,

Not all of the above have been done yet, but I told them what I had planned and they said it was all gravy :D
