Mods - Insurance

Car  Recaro'd 182
I wanted to fit a new exhaust to my car so rang my insurance company up to inform them, wasn't bothered about paying extra for havign it on. They told me as i am not 25 they can not let me put it on!!!

That sucks so..... O ye i'm with Directline at mo

Who has mods on their clio 182/ 172/ 197 and which insurance company are you with. Someone who's around the age of 23 with 6 years ncb be helpful for prices!

currently i am paying £595 fully comp, odviously it will be more from other companies. When i looked Direct line was cheaper by £300 3 months ago with no mods

Aren't Direct Line connected with Tesco? I'm with Tesco and they would let me put on a set of Eibach springs, but would charge me £240 extra for it (with the value of the springs covered in an accident).

Would have thought they'd be ok with anyone over 21 really.

ill ring tesco then and have a word. Thanks,

Anyone with a performance insurer that is cheap and good.

Adrian Flux mate, all non performance adding mods are free.

+1

Or possibly Bell.. they have a modifications section too. Would have used them or Flux, but my named driver no claims discount only counts with Tesco so gotta stick with them for a year.

..although thinking about it I probably would have saved the money I'll now have to spend to insure any mods with Tesco.

First I would ring up Direct Line and ask how much their admin charge is for cancelling a policy and then see if you can save it with another company, like those mentioned above. End of the day they're all out to get you! (may even get a discount from Direct Line to stop you cancelling them) :)

Ive heard Quinns Direct are more happy with mods, Anyone know?

yep quinn let you put on non performance enhancing mods for nowt, not sure about how they are covered or how much they charge for the likes of an exhaust though.

im with green light, got charged 25 for full system and lowering springs.

pete how old are you if you dont mind me asking, and how much you paying, i assume you fc

use brentacre mate they are awesome. you pay for a modify car insurance policy which then allows any cosmetic mods including lowering etc, and any performance mods of up to 10bhp gains so full exhaust and induction kit. if you want to add more performances mods you just pay for a higher BHP band

Elephant, im switching to them next month from directline becuase of the 25 modding rule. I got a few quotes ans putting on an exhaust makes no difference to the premium, and other mods don't cost alot either.

im 21 2yrs ncb, and living in NI. 976 i got it for.

use halifax mate..i asked them about coilovers and they said it was no extra charge for me to put them on..i then asked about a yozza exhaust and they wanted £55 more on the policy

Directline have always been cheapest for me. Not going to change insurers just for an exhaust!

I had to change from Direct Line to Elepehant because of my modifications. But bugger me there was only £40 difference!

You sure elephant don't charge ? They charged me £25 for having a different air filter last year. I've binned them off now.
