  A thirsty 172
Start with a Ph2 V6 and stick a twin turbocharged Ferrari / Lamborghini V12 in the back.
Add an additional fuel tank in the front (it'd need it).
Then some fat wheels and tyres, huge brakes and handling mods to suit.

Oh, and Silvervisions.

I would do a similar thing to what TopGear did with a Lada Riva, but instead of sending it off to Lotus with £100,000, I'd send the Clio to Renaults F1 motor sport division and since money is no object have them completely rebuild it down to every nut and bolt using the finest materials and technology money can buy. I'd trust them to do whatever it takes to build finest performance car. Basically it would be a completely new bespoke car underneath the standard looking Renaultsport Clio Trophy carbon-titanium skin.

Air jacks.
Highly Tuned Naturally Aspirated Engine (280bhp +) with 9k plus limiter
Close geared Sadev 6 Speed Sequential
Digital Dash & electronics associated with data collection / performance charting.
Full cage / harnesses / plumed in fire extinguishing etc
Transport race truck with workshop / accommodation / spares etc.

Same setup but with a Megane (360bhp+) would also do lovely - maybe have both??

Mine would be a sensible but fun everyday car. If money was no object it would just be a step up from what it is now so...

Interior
197 recaros, full black leather / alcantara retrim throughout including doors and dash.
Hertz components in door builds trimmed
10" hertz sub and amp all trimmed to match interior

Exterior
Respray in iceberg all plastics sprayed gloss black
wheels refurbed silver

Performance to cope with a bit of extra weight would be a mild supercharger to gain around 240bhp.

Oh and some 4 pots to slow it down.

Nothing drastic then and to be honest, that is where I want it to be in a few years as I think I'm gonna keep it as nothing else is really tempting me anymore.
