Mongoos Exhaust 16v Problem

Right Guys... I have just spent 3 hours at Mongoose HQ (Collins) and unfortunatly come to no complete solution to the rear axle problem.

I have not moved the exhaust an further back because have found it to be heating the curve in my floor pan. Will try and get some photos to show later on.

The good news though, I can now take passengers (tested 3 up) without knocking. This is made possible by wacking a dent into the exhaust where it hits the axle. Will take a shot of this later too.

Not the solution I was hoping for but it works... will keep anyone posted when i get a full cars worth.

Just as a note Im lowered 50 at the back and 60 at the front (I think), P1 16v, full sys + decat.

i sorted mine mate took it quik fit and moved it about till i got most clearance

then bent hanger and tie-wrapped the exhaust higher up

modified fuel tank heat shield with hammer

now sorted, occasionaly rattles but ive not pinpointed the exact place to do more hammerin yet

however still does it with people in back mines lowered 40mm

Cheers Mat

Ben - price to pay for being looooowwwwwww. The Magnex is close on Mats now too. Side exit is the only way round

Ad, nice one. Mine wont go any higher at the back though

Dave,

F*cked my exhaust last night!

Turning round in an entrance to a car park and i didnt realise it was like a mountain, squahed my centre baffle good and proper.

Mat.

i know, im -55mm and i got about 10mm of travel left in the rear....got a modded k-tec r5 side exit jobbie..well, it sittin on teh floor of the garage whilst i get he new engine in.

even my standard exhaust was dented to clear the torsion bar, an the car isnt even lowered, i had loads of trouble with mine, i got it moved about, and i can either having it knocking a bit on the dog bone mount at the front or knocking at the back, which makes me think a small bend along the middle box might resolve it,

im reluctantly going to be fitting a de-cat and full magnex to mine next week because i havnt got the money to pay anyone to do it,

its not going to be fun

Ive got the mongoose on mine and it dosent make any noises!! (well no unwanted ones!!)

Its easy, go to B&Q or something and by a "plummer mat" or "soldering mat". Its a heat proof mat to use to protect things when blow torching or soldering. It was about £1.50 for 10" square. Wrap that around the pipe where it hits the axle, wrap some padding on the outside of that, I use carpet underly, cable tie in place and .....

Enjoy having ya fat mates in the back!!

the other thing i noticed the other day is that my voot floor was getting rather hot after a long drive, surely this isnt right
