monitor & printer calibration - what do u use?

  Renault Clio 1.5 DCi
I used a Dell 22" monitor running parallel to my lappy.

For calibration, I use a Panatone Huey. Works every time without fail.

I generally leave mine plugged in constantly and it will continue to adjust depending on the light conditions. :)

I borrowed a Spyder from work and calibrated my monitor a while ago. Tbh, it didnt need that much calibration, I think it made the colours slightly warmer.

can u also cal your printer with that one too? is it cheaper than the spyder?
Never really thought a printer should need colour calibration the same way a monitor should. I tend to lab print so not really checked with results at home.

It is cheaper than the Spyder3 and much easier IMO. Its really personal preference.

Mine was through a friend but paid £50 for it. I think retail wise they go for about £60. Ideally I wouldnt pay anything for a cheaper one since they generally dictate poorer quality IMO.

The only thing I need to do is figure out how to configure it so it has a different profile for more than one monitor at a time since I plan to upgrade to a three screen setup in the future.

Excuse the poor compression but the colour casts are entirely different.

Edited via Lightroom prior to purchasing the Panatone Huey

After calibrating the monitor correctly with the Panatone Huey

The main thing is it may still look a bit greenish but the gym conditions were terrible. Green walls, red curtains, yellow floors and all taken at high ISO so did my best. Key here is with the monitor more accurate, it was easier for me to ensure that my tones were more realistic.

I have now got into the routine where I cannot process without it.

Do you print at home too? or take your images to a print house?
if u take them to a print house. Do they refect your screen image?

I tend not to print but when I hand stuff over to clients, I tend to provide sRGB photos which will do its utmost best to produce the exact colours everytime. Most printers out of the box will print exactly the same tones as what is on your image, not your screen. If you find that the tones on the prints are miles different to what you see on screen, most likely your monitor is not calibrated correctly.

If I print at home, its all black an white since it formed my wallpaper and liked the idea when I started.
