Monopods?

I have a voucher for amazon that i got for christmas and i want a monopod for when i go to races, Been looking on the amazon website and think this one look ok:

What do the pros think about this? or should i look for somthing better?

never used a monopod in my life. if you have a big lens say 400,, f2.8, 500mm f4 then yes I can see the point but other than that they are a waste of money
