MOT FAIL-172Cup

  172 CUP
Had an MOT done this morning and failed:(. Diagnostics showed up one fault ''High speed Fan'', could this cause spluttering/a kind of limp mode as its part of the engine management??
Also need new track rod ends, are they expensive? can they cause serious damage if left too long?

Rear suspension oil leak or i think thats what she said lol

so you need a pair of rear shocks - £45 each and take 10min for a blind person with no arms to fit
a pair of track rod ends - £15 each and about 20-30min plus alignment
and a coolant temp sensor - £17 and a splash off coolant

(i'm guessing on the coolant sensor)

track rod ends arnt expensive tbh!, they will cost you allot more if you leave it to long, it can effect your tracking, so tyre wear is a problem.

i pressume the rear suspension oil leak is a shock leaking , or just crap coming out of it and the tester was a dingbat!

cant help you on the ' high speed fan ' tho.

edit: fred is faster than me

lol rear shock thats what she said, it was leaking. Danpl6 said that fan fault wouldn't cause any spluttering so its either coilpack (aftermarket form eurocarparts) thats faulty or coolant temp sensor. Is there a way of testing coilpack or coolant temp sensor without buying new as ive done it before(thrown money at car hoping for the best lol) never again.
Cheers for replying

If the coolant temp sensor is playing up, it will do all sorts of funny things. As Fred said, start with that!

My coolant temp sensor went and mine was mis firing on occasions before. All sorted since Rentech replaced it.
