MOT FAIL rear brake pip, can anyone advise?

  182
Afternoon guys,

My 182 went in for the mot yesterday, everything was fine apart from a rear number plate bulb and rear drivers side brake pipe, this meant it failed.

Didnt worry, i put a new bulb in and took it back today to have the brake pipe done and then retested.

However, the garage have just rang and said its a dealer part only, they have had 4 parts and none of them are correct.

Problem,
flexi brake pipe rear drivers side, apparently its the pipe and the hose is all one unit. Do any of you know if the above sounds correct or give me any further information on if it is a dealer only part and what it is exactly i need?

any help is greatly appreciated guys.

Thanks,
Austin

Hmmm unless they have specialist hydraulic swaging equipment I can't see them making you a new 1 unless its a section of pipe they are failing and they will just chop affected area and replace with new..

Renault sell all pipes ready made and bent I believe so getting hold of 1 shouldn't be a problem. I'm sure I seen Fred mention a part no. And listing a price of around £20-30 but don't quote me on that!

You don't need specialist hydraulic swaging equipment, its just a standard copper brake pipe flaring tool.
The flexy brake pipe should just unscrew from the knackered brake pipe, then the garage should be able to make up a new copper pipe to replace the knackered one and then refit the existing flexy.

The small flexi is swagged onto the pipe therefore specialist equipment is needed. The only screw on flexi is between the beam and the chassis.

A repair will be okay although I would just replace the pipe dude.. How much are they charging you for the repair?

They said £20 which is fair enough but if i can get the genuine full part for around that price it would make sense to do that. Its going back monday so il need to sort out what I'm going to do before then.
