MOT fail :(

  S2000
Just heard back from the garage about the 1.4 Clio's MOT. It failed on the anti-roll bar links being cracked on both sides or something. Labour was £40 for both sides so it's not worth me fixing it myself as I would then have to pay £44 anyway for a re-test. A bit annoying as I had thought everything was OK apart from the shocks, but I didn't really look at the suspension components all that closely.

You usually get a free retest within seven days, but like you said, probably not worth the hassle for the amount it's gonna cost.

Under the new regulations I don't think you can get free retests. On certain things you get 24hrs to replace them and they re-test just those items for free, but this isn't covered as one of those items unfortunately as I would have relaced them myself if that was the case. I'm only a poor student so £40 labour for something I could fix myself hits me where it hurts, the drink fund :( ;)

Going to cost a fair bit to sort if u dont get a free re-test, down to u if u want to go through the hassle

sorry I might not have made it clear. If I leave it at the garage then I don't need to pay for any re-test - just the cost of fixing the thing it failed on. However if I took the car away from the garage and fixed it myself I would then have to pay for a full re-test. it used to be that most places would offer you a certain period of time for a free re-test but I don't think they are allowed to under the new regulations.
