Mot... Fail:/

So I put my car in for an mot today. Basically I get a call about an hour later " hi it's failed on bearing needing done( knew about this, even had the bearing in the boot), rear number plate light, and to many magic trees around the mirror (lol)" so I tell them to crack on with it. I then get a call 10 mins later " hi mr Ritchie while we were taking your bearing off the abs ring shattered, without this your car won't pass it's mot" i don't understand why fixing the bearing would result in needing a new abs ring? Any thoughts/comments are welcome

They've broken it when pulling d/s out of hub. Will say it was really rusty and broke.

He said it was tight so had to hit it with a hammer and that was when it "shattered" that sound about right?

Hit what with a hammer? The bearing or the ABS ring?

Not sure they said they had to knock the bearing out and while doing so they smashed the abs ring? Genuinely don't have a clue but it's costing me a couple of bob if they've fucked up!

Really don't know, not entirely sure of the layout but he said it was overly tight then it shattered! Any input would be better than none?

how much is he saying it will be to fix the abs ring?

I thought it was standard practice to warm the ABS ring before even attempting to remove them! I managed to remove mine without any damage on a 95k 172 and get them back on to sort my rear disc and bearings out.

I'd kick up a little and simply say he should have heated it up and NOT used a bodgers tool to start off with.

Yeh front bearing, at the mrs's house so will tell you when I'm at mines but yeh, the front bearing was getting changed( passenger side) cost an extra £76 serving for the part, never mind the labour on top of that?
