Mot failure

Hey all, just had my m.o.t done and it failed on a offside track rod end ball joint, they said they would get a quote to fix the job and they've told me that the whole steering rack needs replacing at 605 quid. are they having me on?!? if its just the ball joint then thats only 40 quid from renault and fit it myself. What do people think about that?

huhwhat a f**king joke. I'm so p*ssed off right now. 605 quid my arse. just popped into my local stealer to get a second opinion and they said to me the car shouldn't have failed. There's nothing wrong with my steering rack or my ball joint. 3 m.o.t people in renault said it too. So now my car has no m.o.t for nothing

why not get it mot'd at your local stealer if they think nothings wrong with it.

i am tomorrow but i've just wasted 25 quid on an m.o.t for absolutely f**k all & i can't drive my car to work tomorrow so gotta mess about at 6am for some d*ckhead who can't check a car properly. Anyone live in southend avoid parkstone Seat dealership down london road like the plague. Gonna appeal and get em done for ripping people off. I wonder how many other people they've ripped off. Last year they failed my mums car on exactly the same thing and she had to pay out £110 for it to be done. There was probably nothing wrong with her's either

anyone know who i can get in contact with to get them in trouble. I wanna make sure they can't rip people off again by getting their m.o.t license taken off them. see how they like it

A garage did this to me a year ago. I left the car with them to get the MOT done and when I got back the mechanic was in the pit under the car with a can of WD40 which I suppose he hoped I didnt spot. He had sprayed it all over my shocks and told me they all needed replacing because the car was lowered (which it wasnt). Cheeky c**t I wanted to smack him but said OK ill go get some cash, got in the car and fucked off he never saw me again. Reported the garage to VOSA dunno if they got done though </blog>

i tell ya i dunno how these garages get away with doing this sort of stuff. Well this garage ain't gonna get away with it, gonna go down there tomorrow with my new m.o.t in my hand tomorrow and tell them they've been reported to vosa for conning people out of money. I dread to think how many people they've stung

you need to leave the car how it is, if you want to complain, as they will inspect it - re-mot it free of charge

Are you sure its not the inner rack end thats knackered? hence needing a new rack?

no its not that, on the m.o.t sheet it says offside inner front track rod end ball joint has excessive play (2.2.b.1f) when renault have said themselves theres nothing wrong with it

so had my m.o.t done today at my local stealers and its passed, now need to get my money back from the other p*ss takers. 605 quid, it makes me laugh now
