MOT - Proving Engine age - Emissions

  500bhp Scoob
As I've changed my engine, and the MOT needs to be done, how can I prove to the MOT tester that the engine is infact older than the car (1993) and has more relaxed emissions limits, no doubt meaning it'll pass without a catalytic converter on it

I know that the emissions limits are set by the engine age and not the age of the car if the engine has been changed, but I don't have a V5 or anything from the car i took it from...

Any ideas on how I can prove its age? Am thinking of writing to who made the car it came from and seeing if they can reference back the engine number to a year it was built

Thanks

hmmm, i've phoned the majority of MOT test stations around my area and they say its my responcibility (sp?) to prove the engine is from a certain year, otherwise its tested to the car year (1993 just as the emissions law got a bit more 'restrictive')

Wish i kept the V5 from the scrapped motor i took it from, as this is the only hurdle i've got to getting it on the road lol

cant you speak to the dvla and give them the engine number and explain the situation, they might be able to sort out another v5 or copy of?

didnt emmisions regulations only get really tight in 1995? get the grage to do a free emmisions test before it goes in for MOT.
