MOT Question - Damaged wheel

  Clio 1.2 Billabong
My car failed its MOT today because of damage to the rear off-side wheel, other than that it was fine. Does anyone know if I can just put the spare on to get it through the retest?

Obviously I want the get a replacement alloy ASAP but the stealers can only supply one by Tuesday at the earliest. They also quoted me £150 so I'm probably going to get one from my local auto salvage or ebay, which will take even longer. If I don't get the retest done by Monday though, then it will cost me extra.

As long as the spare is the same size then no problem. Havent you got 10 days for the retest? says on the back of the Fail sheet

As above, put the spare on...but DO NOT put the damaged one back in the spare wheel well before you take it for a re-test as you could fail again on having an unsafe spare, so leave it out on the street for some pikeys to pinch instead.

Yeah 10 days, but if I get it done by the end of the next working day then they don't charge me for a partial re-test.

I'm just being a skinflint basically.

needs to be the same size. you get ten working days for retest that will be a partial test and can be charged at 1/2 test fee wheels and tyres are by the end of the next working day and its free.

the can not fail the spare wheel what ever condition it is in as its not a testable item they can only advise it.
