MOT Today

Had my MOT today and the car passed with flying colours apart from one slight issue.

When doing the exhaust gas's there was some sort of carbons that where rather high and my mate said it was not right but after a small drive they came down and passed.

After looking at the exhaust and it covered in black soot (done this from the first day i owned it) and my EML light popping on all the time with a lambda fault he asked what i have replaced.

Told him i have changed Lambda, Spark Plugs, Coil Pack, HT leads and i run the car on Tesco 99Ron.

Putting all this together he things i might have a problem with an injector and thats its throwing unburnt fuel down the exhaust and causing the EML light to pop on every now and then.

Does this sound about right and would this mean i will need to now look at getting new injectors as i have changed everything else.

We use to run are old Hilux on tesco fuels every year had a problem with emissions

switched to shell and never had any problems, use shell V-power

Tesco 99 blocked 2 injectors on my last 172. Will never use it again.

Apart from Renault does anyone else sell OE injectors ?

Looks like i will be changing from tesco 99Ron to shell V-Power

Lol, Tesco must water it down for you lot oop North.

Run mine on 99 since the day I got it 7 yrs ago.

Slightly worrying as 99Ron is all i use! We don't have a Shell near and the only BP is constantly getting cards cloned (never usually have cash so makes it a pain)

What's the Sainsbury's stuff like?

Since i bought the car i always thought there was a misfire and the EML light has randomly popped on every now and then all with a lambda fault.
As i say i have changed everything i know of which is -

Lambda
HT leads
Spark Plugs
Coil Pack
Coolant Temp Sensor

Now i have seen and read things about injectors so im guessing that after todays MOT and the info i have seen / been given im guessing there is a problem with one of them. There is no point in once again putting a new lambda back in for it to happen again.

I've used momentum99 for 3 years and I've never had a problem with it

Renparts were offering brand new injectors for £80 a set including delivery

Only 97 ron afaik, other than that haven't heard much

Only use tesco 99 in all my cars and subarus are very particular with there fuel. Never had an issue in 5 years.
