Mother wants a Mk3 Clio Dci

Is there anything to look out for?

She want one for less that £5,000 and needs to be a 86 or 106 diesel, preferably in 5 door.

i had a mk3 DCI 86 for 2 and a half years and had 0 problems, that was a 55 plate with 49,000 and i sold it for just under £4,000 get a the dynamique s model lot more kit on them and overall nicer to look at.

if its mainly town driving buy an 86, if its a bit of mixed motorway and town driving get the 106.

86 is much better around town with very little turbo lag, infact you wouldnt know it had a turbo, it just pulls smoothly and strongly from the minute you put your foot down, 106 has loads of lag but comes in with quite a punch! not ideal for town driving though!

they are pretty bullet proof the newer ones, dont let millage put you off, try and find a Dynamique S as it will look the part and help resale however your budget is tight so might have to go for dynamique or expression models.

Ok thanks, we will try for a dynamique S then and i think the 86 is a definite!

Probably looking around 57 plate models do they have any common issues or anything?

Get a 86, hasnt got the silly water cooled egr valve like the 106 and the 5 speed box is more reliable. Go for a dynamique, with a/c auto wipers/lights alloys etc. Early dynamique models (55) were strange, they came with pan roof 16" canasta wheels but no air on, auto wipe/lights.

auto lights were an option in 2007 when i ordered mine as were 16inch wheels on 5drs

Yeah it really is a brilliant car, I loved mine until I got my Gt Dci, made me fall In love with diesels as gay as it sounds.

i much prefer the box in the 106 but as i said above the 86 is better for mainly town driving and they are a bit cheaper to buy and cheaper to run
