Mounting Harnesses - Quick question

After edde's post here - http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=224554

I've decided to decided to take my harnesses off the lower seat belt mounts as it was when i got it. Now if i'm using the upper mounts should it be like -

Or this

Or doesnt it really matter?

I know nowt about this, but I would have thought that spreading the potential load across two mounting points would be preferable. Are those both seat belt mounting points though, or is one of them a hole that just happens to fit?

Like I said, I know nothing on this but just some thoughts!

would be better to take em off the strut brace.

and yes.they would also be better with a mounting point each........thats why theyd be 4 point harnesses ;)

The idea of spreading the load is a good one but the mounts are strong enough anyway not to worry realy.

I thought mounting them on the strut brace was a big no-no as the brace could get moved/bent/broken in a serious accident.

I need to route mine properly but they look s**t on the upper mounts!
Is there any way of bolting in a brace without welding it in that would be strong enough to use?

i should think mounting them on the lower bolts would exceed 45deg, i'd put them on the upper mountings they look to be a better angle if a little high but the oe mounting bolts are pull tested for strength anything home made isnt

The upper seatbelt mounting points are tested for strength too...?

They can take a force of 70000N IIRC.

yes however i will say that the oe belt and seat and mounts are pull tested as a unit as it were
therefore one single item may not able to take that force

Find a bar which will take IMo least 12 tones of force before any serious deformation and thats ok then again find a bar that strong.
Nah. The whole reason i searched edde's thread out was because under hard use i could feel pressure on my lower back. With them higher it pulls on my shoulders. More holds you in rather that holds you down.
I'm glad someone followed what i said.

After all its aerospace and racing law. I'd expect them to know and research a bit also its UK law for car design.
There a recinet article in track and race car (might be this month) saying about seat belt mounting points only one type of seats is autorised to low mount I forget the name, if this topics still going will try remember to check tomorrow.

So a cage with a bar purposely for harnesses is'nt or is strong enough??
