Mouse Recommendations (for Gaming + Productivity)

After 17+ years, my wired Microsoft Intellimouse has finally given up. Well, the scroll wheel has. And the textured plastic has worn smooth. 🤣 Whilst I do have another boxed/unopened mouse of the same flavour, that is also 17+ years old, I'm looking for something a bit more up-to-date.

I'm after something that is:
  • Wireless (it must be wireless, although I'd consider mice that also have an optional wired connector)
  • Good gaming sensor with decent dpi (e.g. 12k+)
  • Comfortable as it will also be used for work/productivity (a lot)
  • Decent-looking (I'm not keen on Lamborghini-shaped mice with 19 buttons and 7 scroll wheels)
  • Longevity (I go 17+ years between mice-changes)
Budget/cost isn't too important as, like with good car tyres, it's worth spending on vital components.

What are people using? Recommendations?

Cheers. (y)

As above, The G-Pro Wireless is the best mouse on the market for gaming and general use.

The only downside is that the side buttons have to be the same binding on each side (left side 1 will be the same as right side 1) which wasn't ideal for me in certain games. So if it's important for you to have 4 different binding buttons then I would recommend the Razer Viper Ultimate. I absolutely love it.

Comes with a cool charging dock as well which the G-Pro doesn't have.

A bit late, but personally I swear by the MX Master because it’s just so frikking comfortable. For productivity work it is incredible and although obviously not a “gaming mouse” I’ve no complaints on that front, but then I don’t play competitive online shooters…….

Horses for courses I guess.

Late to the game too but I use a G Pro on my personal computer and an MX anywhere for my work laptop. Just can't beat the logitech stuff I find.

I use a Razer Basilisk v3 for my home PC, but that's wired. I just use the default Windows driver instead of the absolutely awful bloatware that Razer push out. 1GB+ for a glorified mouse driver with mental RGB effects? Nope - jog on....

I've got a cheap & nasty wireless one for work from Amazon - which is ergonomically probably one of the comfiest mice that I have used!

I do use my ancient Logitech G13 on a daily basis as well though. Probably 15+ years old now and still bombproof. No idea why such devices didn't really take off for gaming - I've not used the traditional WASD keyboard layout in donkeys years.

I ordered the G3 Pro last night, it arrived first thing this morning, and I'm a few hours into using it.

I'm not sure if I like it. đź«Ł This is a problem, as my missus paid for it as an early Xmas gift!

It moves beautifully, but it does not fit comfortably in my palm. I know it's also designed to be lightweight, but it feels quite delicate compared to the Intellimouse! I'll give it time and see how it fares in a few games over the weekend. (y)
