my 1.2 16v

right i was just wondering if this sounds normal, i rag my 1.2 16v alot (mainly hoping it will go bang then i can get my 172 conversion with the mrs say so lol) and this are how mu gears go,

2nd 60mph
3rd 80mph
4th 100mph
5th 115mph so far,

now these are with my foot on the floor and the revs going to 6,800ish rpm, on my private runway of course,

are these normal speeds for the grears,
all i have had done is totally stripped the rear, i mean totally, a magnex 6x4 zeust and a panel filter,
its a 2002 51plate and on 34k miles,



( also would a decat really do much? and is it worth fitting one then havind to swap everytime for a mot?)

on mine the rev limiter alters itself as to how hot the engine is, i think........:S

I did that a couple of times in mine mate, but never again... 1.2 over 100 is wobbly to say the least.

with bigger wheels it puts the speedo out, mine on 16's is 5 miles slower than the speedo says!!

Yeah mines the same, my limiter is at 6,100 my max top speed is about 110 on the standard 14" steelies, takes a while to get there though! and if theres a strong side wind i get blown all over! lol

mine limiter kicks in at 6,500k Also you say your 1.2 weighs 875KG? what weight reduction have you done to it?? becuase if its just the rear seats and carpets etc all that wont take off 200kg??

They use different boxes, the 1.2 uses the JB1 box and the 1.6 uses the JB3 (mines a JB3 979) due to the increased torque it produces. The ratios in the 1.6 are slightly higher than the 1.2.

mofo what MPG are you getting ragging it that hard? even just taking mine to 4k/5k revs in each gear on mine drops it way below 25/30mpg:S

26/30 mpg so not alot lol, but if i drive nice a slow i can see 50ish,

then try and see what top end you can get.. best to try it at night as the roads will have less traffic

No way you've saved 200kg from just taking the seats, spare and the flimsy plastic. I had all mine out in a 182 and it only came to 28KG without the spare.
