My 1.2 Clio Dynamique

  BMW 323i Coupe
I took a leap today and decided to start doing my own work on the car. It's a nice little starting project for me, and the weather is really good to be outside with the car.

So I took a trip to Halfords, and bought some Hammerite Smooth paint, a wire brush, a 1/2" paint brush, and some sanding paper.

So I started by propping the car up and taking the passenger side wheel off. I used the wire brush to get rid of the rust and dirt around the caliper, and got to work with the painting of a nice yellow.

I gave it a few coats, and while I waited for the final coat to dry, I took the wheel for a much needed wash. So I cleaned the alloy inside out, dried it, and took it back out to the car.

Since then, I've done the otherside, and started prepping for my colour coding of my side strips.

I need to buy the primer, lacquer and paint for the strips, and then I'm going to look at fixing the scratches to the passenger front side. I'm sure I'll attempt the front and back bumpers, aswell as the spoiler at some point, but I'll use the side strips as a learning curve first before I step into anything major.

Nice work mate, Not sure on the yellow calipers but if you like it thats cool.

Im not sure whether this is a project either? Better off in the media section.

I was going to post it in that section at first, but wasn't sure.

Need to get those wing mirror caps cc'd too.

Aye. I don't know how hard they will be to remove though, what with the electrics going to them.

They're on plastic clips. If you wedge your fingernail (or small bladed screwdriver etc.) on the end corner on the top of the arm nearest the window and pull it apart, it should unclip and pop off the frame ;)

As said, yellow callipers seem weird on a deep blue car, but it's yours at the end of the day.

do you not have something to put your alloys onto when washing. you will end up scratching them to buggery if you put them face down on the ground. i have a big square of foam type stuff. save me damaging them.

I don't think my alloy touched the ground, the tyre kept it off.
