i recently bought a ph1 172 as a track project. It started as a very tidy 101,000 mile car that was perfect for everyday use......

lol legohead. My first 172 was my pride and joy, i'd never have had the balls to do this to it, i treated it better than my wife lol!

I bought this car with one intention!!

Justine, hopefully yes.

I can't beleive the weight of the stuff that came out! The seats weigh a tonne and all the carpet and sound deadening was like dragging a corpse out!

I'll get some pics of it during the week. with all the stuff out, its a good inch/inch and a half higher, goes to show how much weight the cars carry.

I like the look of that Daniel Son.

I'm sure i'll see you blasting about in that more than the 197...

  Cup Turbo, Flamer
Because it's chrome, anything that is chrome is normally for looks not purpose lol!

Looking good mate, love threads like this so you can watch the progression!

Thats for when i take it to places like Brands hatch etc, its still road legal so i need to drive it there and will need a stereo to stop me going insane!
(multi cd and rear speakers are all out though!)

Nah fair enough. I'd keep it too tbh. My wee glanza is stripped and i only have tiny front speakers. Can bearely hear it! lol

Where do you plan on driving it mate? And whats the planned spec?

More update pics! nearly finished!

Its just had a load of work carried out on it (cheers paul! ;)) New engine/box mounts, new leads, new plugs, new oil, filter, wipers, the list goes on!

So far inside i have fitted two Corbeau seats, and two sets of Sabelt harnesses. The reason for the different mountings is due to the fact i cant decide where i want them to go! lol

Anyways, all thats left now is the suspension. Just going to fit new shocks and some lowering springs for the minute, until I save up enough Bunce for some decent coilovers!!

Enjoy.

Like on the drivers side, but with the outside harness on the inside mount and vice versa, so that the harnesses cross over.

Cars looking good fella, what shocks/ springs you looking at? For info on sportlines with mine stripped it looked higher at the rear than standard... sell the kid and get some coilies ;)

Dan, just some new std shocks and probably some Apex 40mm springs, then next year (after xmas bonus time!) i'll get some coilovers.

And cheers for the idea on the harnesses, i'll give it a bash on sunday.

Out of interest, why crossed over??

For a track car dave i wouldnt worry, the ammount dan will drive it this season wont make it worth bothering about.

Then next year the **** will have some coils fitted ;)

Take the airbags out.
Lightweight wheels.
Remove AC.
Lightweight battery.
Thinner exhaust with no cat.

Struggling to think of anything else !! (take the stereo out you pussy;)) Take an iPod if you think you need some songs that badly!

How much extra speed do you think that will realistically give you?
