Sometimes when I lock my car using the remote fob, the factory-fitted standard alarm beeps 3 times (as well as the usual flashing hazard lights). It seems to happen every now and again and I can't figure out why it happens. The manual isn't written very well either. Anyone know the answer?

So what does the three beeps mean? I've done a search, and found other problems, like people's alarms giving one long beep, etc, but nothing specific about 3 short beeps.
Even sometimes when I sit in the car for a while after the ignition is off, then get out, close all doors, then lock, I will still get 3 beeps. Like I said it happens once in a while, so I am clueless.

I think the 3 beeps means you have de-activated the interior sensors, sometimes if i switch my ignition off and immediately get out of car, shut door and press button on the key it will beep 3 times, iirc the alarm supplement says to deactivate interior sensors you switch ignition on/off twice then get out and immediately lock car and it beeps 3 times.
Or is it the fault where the alarm still thinks it has an ignition feed?.

Mine does exactly the same, beeps 3 times when I lock the car quickly after getting out. If I wait 20 secs or more from turning the ignition off to locking the car it doesn't.

Hi Jeffer.. this is the most correct qupte so far on this thread fella. IMO
Had exactly this happen to mine nearly 2 yrs ago. Had it fixed under warrenty at the dealer where i bought it from, something to do with a relay incorrectly wired up. Was only a small job to put fight.. about 20 mins.. and that was the first time they'd ever done it! Not had any problems with it since either.. Just get it booked in if it annoys you.

i'm not convinced they actually did anything(they never fixed anything else it was in for). it still beeps at me sometimes, but after leaving my car at a different garage 3 times in the last couple of weeks i'm not too bothered about it at the moment. just have to get used to waiting a few seconds before locking it until it annoys me enough to sort it out.

was reading up on this lastnite in the renault alarm manual anyone else read it,there series of beeps on the alarm apparently that beep from once to seven times?!?

Thanks for all your posts. I don't think I will take it in to get it looked at especially. I will probably just mention it the next time I take it in for a service. From my experience, it doesn't matter how long you leave it from turning the ignition off to arming the alarm. I've sat in the car faffing around after I've turned the ignition off before getting out and locking it and it has still beeped 3 times.
