It must be just you, because 2 weeks on and a 1000 miles and mine has almost as many rattles as my 172 had.

Not to mention it never starts first time and still has knocking suspension strut top thingys.

Good job its such a great looking little car which puts a massive smile on my face whenever I drive it.

Just washed it and the sun even came out for 5 minutes for me to admire it, before putting it in the garage.

If you corner it hard and fast Dave, especially on an uneven surface there is a knocking from the front suspension.

Another thing mine does, which the 172 didnt, is as I reverse off my drive with the steering turned to the right, as the car drops from the kerb to the road there is a loud clunk from the right hand front suspension. Im hoping it will just go away.

6666 posts

I was very surprised at the build quality when I picked up my 182 ... like Lee though I now have a few squeeks that appear from time to time. (2000 miles)

Still slightly better than I thought it would be though :)

My 172 did this, same scenario, just a clunk/groan. I was told its down to the different suspension setup to "normal" cars.

What a suprise, my 172 does it all the time. They only time it does it is when you start up and reverse off the drive/out of a space you get the clunk/grind/groan and figured it was something to do with the Abs or something as once its done it, it doesnt do it again.

Guys get it booked in. Theyll sort it no problems as its a common fault in their tech thingy!! lol.

Mine had exactly the same thing. All they do is cut away what the strut rubs up against, cureing the squeak, rattle, bang.

Sorted in one morning.

Its the cutting away that bothers me.

I have visions of a "Technician" hacking with a "junior hacksaw" from his dads toolbox, and leaving the bare metal edges untreated > "Hello rust"

I know Jon. My 172 went in 3 times for it and in the end they admitted defeat.

Ill just put up with it rather than have them pulling bits off my new car.

How odd mine has been fine - no more creaks. Perhaps take it to another garage and get them to do it.

I think Ill wait for it to gain a few more faults and get them all done at once.

I have to admit, the fact it rarely starts first time is pis*ing me off.

I called Renault Birmingham about an autochanger cable the other day and they asked for my VIN number!!! I dont trust these people with my car. LOL

Lee, have you tried disconnecting the battery for a period of time?

When mine went through a stage of not starting first time, thats what I did and it cured the problem.

Of course it could have just been a fluke!

I can set my watch by my 182 not starting first time in the morning. Second time and no problems. What is the theory behind disconnecting the battery?? My current line of thinking is starvation of petrol for some reason since pressing the accelerator a few times before turning the ignition (not during) seems to help.

Pumping the accelerator before tuning the key will have no impact.

Its a "fly by wire" system, so the throttle is not directly connected to the throttle body afaik.
