My 1st Problem With New 172

R

rich[182]

Had it 4 weeks to the day, new from Renault dealer.

I know the auto front wipers have a mind of their own, now they havent got a mind. On M1 tonight in pouring rain and they stopped working at 70mph

Rear still ok but fronts jammed half way up the screen, luckily only 10-15 mins from home - They played up once or twice when working intermittently where they also jammed but were ok after switching off & on - Hope dealer can take car asap as I cant drive in wet (Might try some RAIN-X) to get me by if not.

Only got car back from dealer this morning after having bottom of drivers seat fully replaced due to a tear in leather from new (Warranty work) Only other minor issue is a paint lacquer defect on drivers door which I pointed out on the day I bought it - Am waiting until end of winter before deciding if I want a door respray or not

Other than that Ive just developed my first little rattle from dashboard at 750 miles

STILL LOVE THE CAR THOUGH

Ahh the joys of Renaults... Mine now has two rattles... one from windscreen blower vent somewhere and one from the silver trim above the glovebox. It goes with the territory Im afraid. Average build quality and firm suspension = Rattles!! Still, all is forgotten when with a quick blip of the loud pedal!! Roll on the dry weather!!!

Not too bothered with the rattles, I kinda expected that having visited this forum for 2-3 months before buying, Like you say it goes with the territory. Just hope the wipers is an infrequent blip on otherwise driving pleasure rather than the first of many trips to the dealer !!!!!!!1

Make sure you have the sensitivity adjusted correctly, I drove back from london to edinburgh and it would only wipe when I went past a big truck, it was on its most insensitive setting. Now I set it too most sensitive it works great.

my wipers have started to make a horrible creaking sound.its not from the wiper itself but from inside the mechanism where the arms go.any ideas anyone..

Regards,ian

Anyone get a buzz from the front console somewhere at about 4k or 80mph+. This is not to be confused with 4k exhaust rattle problem its
its defo the interior dashboard. Has happened since the instrument panel had to be replaced under warrenty at Gordon Lamb. Its probly not their fault but could there be anything needing tightening up etc to fix it?

Replaced fuse this morning - it was knacked - wipers worked 1st time - still intrigued as to why it blew though - Luckily the fuse box had spares but need to replace the spare now.

Anyone else had this problem ?

My wipers packed up and got tangled with each other the other night, then stopped working alltogether, but it was just the main two bolts that needed tightening up that attach to the motor, they had worked loose.

Air con is still very very weak and sometimes still seems to fail to work and clear the mistyness that is occurring on these coldish mornings.

Now blown a 2nd 20amp fuse, Bought 6 spare !!!! & booked into Renault for them to have a look at - Bought some RAIN-X as a backup

Let reno worry about it mate.

Rain X is only good if you put it on at regular intervals and build up the layers! Remember putting some on mine and it only started working at 100, lol.

After blowing another 3 fuses in a week the car finally got seen to by dealer yesterday

Problem was a bare live wire near the wiper motor causing a short circuit and blowing the fuse LOL

New car - bare unshielded live wire LOL

Ok now anyway...............

ps RAIN-X is well worth using anyway, last week drove 50 miles on motorway in torrential rain and never used wipers once the whole way

Theres a way to disable the auto-sensing on the wipers and give the control back to the good old driver. Can anyone remind me of what to do? I think it involves switching ignition on/off a few times....
