my 3 yearr old 182 and the gearbox is facked

my car is one 28 days out of warrenty reno said 590 to strip he gearbox for a diagnostics check, and that dont include parts or putting it back to gether and they said they might help pay for some of it if some part has failed as the cat has 36k on clock........
but ive found a local garage that will rebuild the gearbox all in for 500 ,

Ask Renault to pay half- at least! get on to Renault customer service.

My gearbox failed on my old 182 at 30k, it was still in warrenty though and they fixed it no probs.
As said try to get at least half. Good luck.

They do not like abuse, they get it and they break.

another one! sorry to hear it - lost mine at about 40k (it had had oil leaks in the past - not during my ownership). sounds as though Renault are interested in helping though which is good news

the gearbox is at odds with the nature of the rest of the car - keep saying it, but it's a shame imo

The gearbox on the 1*2 is actually pretty good despite forum belief, the clio turbo guys run off it no problem.
It has to be abused big time for it to pop off.

im not 100 % was wrong with the gear box

it goes in on monday to a gearbox place and reno have said to me , to get all the damaged parts out and show them , and then maybe pay for it

theres a few things you always get off renault....

1. a sore ar5e
2. an empty wallet
3. a good reason to find a reputable specialist.

What is the fault with the gearbox?

Renualt paid 90% of my repair bill (£1100) when my car was 2 months out of warranty. Phone Renault UK, they were very helpful.

i might pick it up 2 day still not 100% what the main fault was but its costing me just over six hundred plus vat for a new gearbox fitted and fort might as well replace the cluth while they was as it , not a bad price all in ...
when i get it back ill let ya know the main fault

well basically the bearing went at the top of the gearing spindle and would not allow any fluid to get by ... as you can see the where on the spindle and the hole throu the gearbox caseing

does anyone know the proper names for these parts

now i need to try and take all this stuff to reno and pray
