my car is idling at 2000 rpm. any ideas?

Check for intake air gaps.

also check the throttle potentiometers

I cleaned the engine bay today. would that have affected it?

check if you knocked off any pipes around the manifold/throttle body

idle control valve sorted mine out £58 from renault

As said, dirty throttle body, potentiometer, vacuum pipe or something in that area being loose will cause this.

Or just being a tit and pressure washing your engine :rasp:
