my clio 1.2 16v

  1.2 16v (Race Spec)

right, i have 53 plate dynamique 1.2 16v. im probably gona get rid of it in april and get a corsa sport 1.6 or mayb a focus 2.0, mainly coz i want a bit more power.

iv heard a rumour bout this k-tec turbo theyre makin 4 the 1.2, anyone know anyfin about this? or would u recommend doin sumink like an engine coversion?? if i kept it, or would u say get rid of it and get a corsa or focus?? im in 2 minds coz i love my clio, its just 2 slow

the 1.6 dynamique is only 12bhp more than a 1.4dynamique, i would go for the 1.4 and do that up due to how much you save insurance wise compared with 1.6.

Still slow though.

the 1.2 turbo iv heard will be about £3k and will take the 1.2 to about 120bhp? so iv heard. im waiting to see how they do it, there will be no intercooler and will be run on low boost. i would imagine this will be because valves wont be strong enough to stay shut under higher boost.

The turbo kit will cost 3k and will be quite low pressure about .7 bar IMO so you dont need an intercooler but it will help long term life and increase power. Its not worth it unless you want to mod the engine better drop a 1.8 16V in there for £1400.

If you want more power there has been a recient thread on it (yesterday I think) about engine possibilites and prices. Much better giving your Clio or getting a Clio with more power if you like the Clio than change for something with just more power IMO

how about a starlet gtt engine? that would be pretty good i reckon, bit more reliable than the r5gtt. only prob being that they are a difficult to pick up in uk. think they are 4wd could mod the clio to 4wd, that would be a pretty cool project.
