My clio has to go...

  Golf GTI PP Mk7
Insurance renewal came thru the other day, and owing to my crash in nov that a few of you know about, and the loss of my no claims bonus, im looking at about £2500 to insure the cup next year and I just cant justify that. God know this, so tonight he put 182 on the road infront of me and we had a blat, god i just wanted to cry i love my car so much, lol. I'm thinking audi A3 1.8T for my next one, what do you guys rekon?

I'm on a budget of 4k for my new car, any thoughts?

So you swaping a group 16 car for a group 14, if i'm honest there won't be much of a saving.

there is, the audi can be insured for 1200, probably owing to the fact its a few years older, smaller engine (slightly) and has abs etc, insurance companys dont like cups, lol.

buy a £750 1.9D mk1 phs3 clio (i prefer it to my V6 lol!) and run it for 12months and/or buy a weekend toy?

its SO comfortable! does 50 to the gallon, which isn't bad for an old Preg, and it will do 110mph no problem

the only problem with it is it has a wee oil leak

ive got a few qoutes on the cup so far, cheapest being £1600 which is much better so i may yet get to keep it, which will awesome. im still looking around tho. I dont want her to go, lol.

nah we're looking at getting a daily runner to keep some miles off both the cars, and if it's a diesel fuel costs might also come down a little bit too :)

back on topic - have you considered a 10 month bonus accelerator policy - admiral/elephant etc do them. increase your excess a little perhaps as well to reduce the premium?

at £1600 i would say it's about managable...

although i suppose it's what else you have to pay for too.

managed to get a good deal on my new one though...£1049 fully comp with all mods declared. i'm 23 with 4 years ncb. i would aim to pay around £1400 if i were in your shoes. about £125 per month

  Golf GTI PP Mk7
thatd be grat, but im 20, and i had a crash in nov so i lost my no claims, lol. I'm with adrian flux atm and i definately will not be renewing with them, no way.

Blood hell mate, thats still steep imo...my clio was £650 f/c with a similar level of mods as you thru bell. i'm 23 with 5yrs NCB tho, but its shouldn't make that much difference??

Lewis - If the cup is standard, try directline (you prob have already), but they were the cheapest for me by a long shot on a standard car.

  Golf GTI PP Mk7
hehe, i cant, i love it too much. ill give direct line a shot, cheers. elephant seems promising at the mo tho. if i add my mum as a named driver it drops a further £200 or so.

and m!keydee: JESUS lord above dude, £4200 to insure a 1.6???? thats insane.
